Gujarat's Child mortality rate is declined
 Child mortality rate is declined to 4 percent.

Mr. Jay Narayan Vyas applauded Chief Minister Narendra Modi's initiatives

State Health Minister Shri Jay Narayan Vyas informed that the Health Department have taken intense steps for child mortality due to which, the State has considerably reduced the ratio. He said, "In comparison to previous year's 2 percent reduction, this year, Child mortality rate is declined to 4 percent.

Mr. Vyas said, "According to Register General of India's sample registration survey 2010 report indicates 44/1000 and 48/1000 last year. Since 2005, there is great decline in the ratio. This is credited to the efforts of state administration and cooperation of citizens."

Mr. Jay Narayan Vyas applauded Chief Minister Narendra Modi's initiative with the 'Cheeranjivi scheme, Bal Sakha initiative and Nirogi Bal varsh, Mamta kit etc apart from other initiatives like the 108 Ambulance which provide quick emergency services, safe motherhood initiatives like 'Mamta Divas', Institutional labor care steps and post delivery home visits, child immunizations and efforts for various malnutrition.

Mr. Vyas further informed, "In last few years, Gujarat has added 31 new born infant intensive care units, 147 new born child stabilization units and 296 new born child security units which are fully operational. The Anganwadi health workers initiative provide services for nutritition, for anemic state, iodine salt distribution, monitoring for child growth, health related training etc."

The e-Mamta model has been initiated in tune to Information Technology and every pregnant, expectant mothers and children below 5 years health and nutrition intake is monitored. To reduce child malnutrition, for the first time in the state, 70 Bal vikas (child progress) and nutrition centres are operational for over extensive malnutrition children. For ten days, all services related to nutrition is given. Moreover, Education Department and Child and Women Development Department together have initiated 'Mamta Taruni Abhiyaan' for teenage girls. Health and nutrition guidance is given under this initiative. Government of India has appreciated the initiative of 'E-mamta' project, said the Minister.

Furthermore, Health Department alongwith Education Department has taken the initiative for health of school going children and non school going children from birth to 18 years. Over 1.5 crore children are covered under this initiative. They are provided no cost health treatment with even some diseases like heart, kidney and cancer detection and provide health services free of cost.

As per Quality improved program, for the health of patients, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accreditation is received and efforts are made to uprise the level of human strength. There is increase in Medical college entrance and in coming years, training facilities are planned. Health Department provides safe labor and after labor facilities to the mother for 48 hours and under observation at health instititue, provide health facilities including food, said the minister.
