With 3 MoUs, a new chapter unfolds in India-China relationship on the land of Gandhi and Sardar

President of China Xi Jinping received a grand welcome at Ahmedabad airport, as he arrived in Gujarat as a part of his three-day visit to India. Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel and Gujarat Governor O P Kohli were present at the airport among the others, to welcome the Chinese President and the first lady of China. President Xi Jinping was given the ceremonial Guard of Honour by police women of Gujarat and various cultural performances from across the state were performed as a welcoming gesture at the airport.

Gujarat witnessed an epic moment today as President of China and Prime Minister of India marked the beginning of a new relationship between the two countries. Three MoUs were signed between the two Asian giants in the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping and PM of India Shri Narendra Modi, will forge further development in the state.

As a part of signing ceremony, an agreement was signed on establishment of twining relationship between Guangdong province and Gujarat state. Through this MoU, both the sister provinces will extend mutual cooperation in various fields and exchange of economic and trade delegations. Guangdong is China’s richest province with the highest GDP growth compared to all Chinese provinces. Thus, is a way, Gujarat and Guangdong share the same identity of being the growth-engine for their respective countries. With a population of over 100 million, Guangdong has an annual growth of 8.5 percent.

On the same lines, a sister city agreement was also signed between Guangzhou and Ahmedabad. This will facilitate engagements in fields of economy, trade, public policy, education, technology, tourism and culture.

The third MoU was signed between China Development Bank and Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), the nodal agency of Government of Gujarat, under which an industrial park will be set up in Gujarat. This will help promote domestic industry and will encourage adoption of new technology by local firms.

Chief Minister of Gujarat Smt Anandiben Patel, heads of Gujarat’s top industrial and business groups and ministers were present during the MoU ceremony among others.
