419 join Gujarat Police as Lok Rakshak Dal, include 41 postgraduates, 169 graduates

Gujarat appoints 26,000 computer savvy, highly educated personnel in police force – Narendra Modi

Ahmedabad, Tuesday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that coordination between the specialized Rakshashakti University, Forensic Science University and Gujarat Law University has endowed the state's security forces with unique strength.

Speaking at the passing-out parade of Lok Rakshak Dal the state's oldest Police Training Centre at Vadodara, he exhorted the new recruits to uphold the pride and honour of their uniform in the service of the people.

He said that with the appointment of 26,000 educated and computer savvy personnel in the police department Gujarat's police becomes the youngest and most techno savvy force in the country. Out of 419 Lok Rakshaks inducted today, 41 are postgraduates and 169 graduates. He said that 892 Lok Rakshaks were inducted in the last two days alone, including 473 at Karai yesterday as women are also joining police force, comprising 35 to 50 per cent.

Additional Director-General of Police (Training) T Bist said that with the appointment of 8,700 jawans the police force is being strengthened. Vadodara Centre's principal I. M. Desai administered oath of duty to the pass-outs.

Those present on the occasion included Minister of State for Home, Praful Patel, Tourism Minister Jitubhai Sukhadia, Parliamentary Secretary Yogesh Patel, Seva Sadan Mayor Dr Jyotiben Pandya, MP Balkrishna Shukla, District Panchayat President Sudhaben Parmar,MLA Bhupendra Lakhawala, VUDA Chairman Naranbhai Patel, Additional ChiefSecretary (Home) Varesh Sinha, DGP Chittaranjan Singh, Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Kumar, District Collector Vinod Rao, DDO Rakesh Shankar, Police Commissioner Satish Sharma, among others.
