Gujarat CM appoints regional authorities as forest settlement officers to accelerate the process of declaring villages of Banni area of Kutch as revenue villages

Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel has decided to allocate additional responsibilities in the form of forest settlement officers to 6 regional authorities so that 48 villages of the Banni area of kutch can be declared as revenue villages which are a part of the protected forest area to make the process of forest settlement more quick.

This decision has been made by the chief minister keeping in mind the time frame for the settlement process of the Banni villages which have been declared as protected forest areas so that these villages can enjoy the benefits of various development schemes. The chief minister also plans to allocate land for creating crematories and village centers wherever they don’t exist.

Similarly, the authorities of Bhuj, Anjar, Gandhidham, Bhachau, Mundra, Nakhhtantra, Lakhpat and Abdasa have been allocated additional responsibilities of forest settlement officer for Bhuj taluka, Anjar Gandhidham, Bhachau-rapar, Mundra—Mandavi, Nakhtanntra Lakhpat taluka and Naliya-abdasa respectively.

As a result of Smt Anandiben’s decision, almost 1, 95,566.39 hectare area of 48 villages of Banni and the whole Banni forest area have been covered under the forest settlement work.
