Gujarat CM attends Women Convention at Surat

Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel attended Women Convention at Surat today. Speaking on the occasion, CM Smt. Patel attributed Gujarat’s Gatisheel growth to the contribution and the power of the 3 crore strong women population of the state.

First woman Chief Minister of the state, CM Smt. Patel said that by economic, social and educational development of children and women, fast steps can be taken in the direction of their empowerment. The government in collaboration with determined and resourceful women of the state is continuously working towards taking women-power to greater heights. She further added that the intensive steps taken by the government in the direction of empowerment, security and health of women have led to Gujarat’s women being empowered and safe.

She said that Gujarat is known for its safety and security for women. With changing times, the government has done well to prioritize women safety and has upheld the safe image of Gujarat. On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel signed off the completion of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Mahahastakshar campaign which was started by Surat District’s health department. Notably, in the last one year, 2.44 lakh people have supported the campaign by signing it.

CM Smt. Patel also added that the government is committed to providing all the help that is needed to the 2.50 lakh Sakhi Mandals of the state so that women become an integral part of the state’s development journey. Loan is also being given at subsidized rate to women for buying milch cattle. CM Smt. Patel urged women of the state to make themselves aware of the various initiatives and schemes launched by the government for the welfare of women and empower themselves and contribute to the development of the nation.

CM Smt. Patel remarked that weak pregnant women and malnourished children are a cause of worry. Talking about the various steps taken to combat these issues, Cm Smt. Patel said that the government has developed a nutritious diet called Bal Amrutam for weak children. The government has also taken stringent steps to make ICDS units more effective to ensure that all deliveries happen in Hospitals.

CM Smt. Patel commended the efforts of many women from villages-cities who are using their dedication, determination and resourcefulness to resolve grievances of women through Nari Adalats.

Talking about the steps taken for the welfare of orphaned women and children, CM Smt. Patel said that, provision has been made in the current year’s budget to open two Matruvatsalya kendra and two Bal Golkulamm Kendra.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel felicitated women for best work in Nari Adalats. Also, women who attained various achievements in the fields of education, health, sports etc. were felicitated.
