Hon. CM Smt. Anandiben Patel flags-off “Beti Bachao” mega march at Junagadh

The first woman CM of Gujarat Smt. Anandiben Patel attended an event organized by Patel Kelavani Mandal at Junagadh, wherein she spoke at length about her fight for women empowerment.

Smt. Anandiben shared about the disappointing gender ratio in the state. She said that the reason behind this is that girls are not allowed to take birth. Even today, she said, female feticide is taking place. She insisted that this has to stop if we want a more complete and wholesome community at large.

Smt. Patel said that it is the need of the hour to focus on the education and nutrition of the daughters. A healthy and educated woman will be more self-reliant and an asset to the country, she added. She also spoke of the importance of holistic development of boys as well and added that sons and daughters both should be at equal levels.

Smt. Anandiben took this opportunity to speak about the importance of in-house toilets, which is still not completely perceived in our society. She shared that it is not only the safety of the women but also her health that are at stake. Hon. CM also appealed to all the women to treat the Clean India campaign as their personal priority too. She shared that this attitude needs to change if we all want a cleaner and healthier country.

On this occasion, Smt. Anandiben Patel was felicitated with ‘Uma Nari Ratna’ award by Shri Mohanbhai Patel. Hon. CM in return congratulated the trustees for organizing such an event which explains the importance and honour of daughters to the society. Alongside, Smt. Patel also flagged-off ‘Beti Bachao – Swachch Bharat’ Maha Rally.

The event was attended by Trustees of Patel Kelavani Mandal, MPs, MLAs, local authorities, eminent personalities and several citizens of Junagadh.
