As part of Swarnim Gujarat celebrations, it is likely to grow in to a massive grassroots movement, called “Vanche Gujarat (Read Gujarat Mission)”; a meeting is to be held at Gandhinagar on 1st of April, in the presence of Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi. It is aimed to enhance the knowledge domain of future generations.

The ‘Read Gujarat Mission' is going to actively rope in private and government libraries, students of schools and colleges and many of the voluntary organisations who are engaged in social-service, besides citizens and senior citizens. Giving details about the programme, principal secretary, Shri Hasmukh Adhiya said that it would inspire the student to cultivate reading habits, other than curricular reading.

Chief Minister, Shri Narendrabhai Modi would launch the ‘Samay-Dan Programme (Youth to devote at least 100 hours, during the year- long Swarnim Gujarat celebrations, in any of the area they chose, either environment, education, energy saving or social service), on 1st April 2010, he would also offer inspiring insights about “Vanche Gujarat (Read Gujarat Mission), at Gandhinagar Town- Hall on Thursday, at 10-30 a.m.

Ministers, Smt Anandiben Patel, Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela, Shri Ramanlal Vora, Minister of State Shri Jaysinh Chauhan, Executive Chairman ‘Swarnim Gujarat Celebrations Committee', Shri I.K.Jadeja and Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti would also remain present on the occasion.

It is likely to win massive support from as many as 55 leading institutions, also to gain grace of saints and sages, besides the active participation from ‘State Universities' and Educational Institutions. Around 25 Lakh kids, they would read around 1 Crore Books. It is also aimed to involve farmers, scientists, and citizens at large.

Under the Read Gujarat Mission, around 15000 Granth-Yatras, 2500 Reading Workshops, 1000 interactive sessions- on the subject ‘the book they liked most'- are on anvil, would also organize 25000 street seminars. It aims to felicitate, around 100000 students, 1400 schools and 11000 college students.

Principal Secretary-Education, Shri Hasmukh Adhiya has passionately appealed to make the ‘Read Gujarat Mission' a grand success, also sought insightful suggestions from all.
