MoU to establish Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Institute in Gujarat signed between India & China in presence of CM

During the historic visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel to China, 24 agreements amounting to $10 billion were signed between India and China.

Exploring new avenues for cooperation to enhance collaboration in vocational training and skill development, an agreement was signed to establish Mahatma Gandhi National Institute of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship at Gandhinagar or Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel and Ahmedabad city Mayor were present when the agreement was being signed.

With the establishment of such institute, the skill development sector which already has been given special thrust in Gujarat will gain further momentum and pave way for strengthening skill development in India.

Besides setting up of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, GIFT city in Gujarat and Shenzhen in China were identified as pilot smart cities to initiate cooperation in the development of smart cities.

In September last year, three agreements were signed between Gujarat and China which included establishment of twinning relationship between Guangdong province & Gujarat state, a sister-city relationship between Guangzhou city & Ahmedabad city and setting up of Chinese Industrial Park in Gujarat.
