CM Smt. Anandiben Patel distributes land titles among tribals at a function in Nanapondha village of Valsad district

CM launches ‘Toilet Monitoring Software’ developed by district administration to achieve target of toilet in every house

While handing over land titles and benefits of several tribal welfare initiatives of the state government at ‘Tribal Rights and Empowerment’ programme at Nanapondha village of Valsad district, Smt. Anandiben Patel said that her government will always ensure all-round development of the tribal districts.

Under ‘Gatisheel Gujarat’ initiative, Gujarat government had set the target of giving land rights to 5000 tribals. However, a total of 7000 beneficiaries from all seven tribal districts of Gujarat have been given land rights, with 5098 beneficiaries from Valsad district alone.

On this occasion, Chief Minister expressed her distress over malnutrition among pregnant women and appealed women to avail benefits of ‘Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana’ which has now been extended to expectant mothers.

Talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious project ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana’, Smt. Patel said that 86 lakh bank accounts have already been opened in Gujarat and 100 percent target is planned to be achieved by the year end instead of the set deadline of March 31st, 2015. She urged people who do not have bank account to open their bank accounts and avail benefits of government.

Stressing on the importance of education in personal growth and development of nation, the Chief Minister shared, “I come from a humble background. I have worked in fields and reared cattle in my young age. I had to travel long distances for education. But with determination and effort I have achieved all this. My parents knew the importance of education and they encouraged me. Education is the best inheritance parents can give to their children.” She urged parents to educate their children – both boys and girls by availing several government schemes and making proper use of scholarship provided by the state government.

Chief Minister also gave details about state government’s provision of providing milking machine and land to construct house to women cattle-rearers.

Smt. Anandiben Patel made a fervent appeal to the people to help government achieve the target of toilet in every house and ensure that all 97,000 houses of Valsad district which do not have toilets get the same within next one year. She said once 100 per cent target is achieved, it would enhance Gujarat model of development which has been lauded across the world.

On this occasion, Smt. Patel also launched ‘Toilet Monitoring Software’ developed by district administration to track places which do not have toilets. She also appealed people to have a look at the toilet exhibition organized by the district administration which would give them understanding of importance and cost of constructing toilets.

Union Cabinet Minister Shri Mansukhbhai Vasava and several other dignitaries were also present at the occasion.
