Gujarat CM Launch Slum Redevelopment Project work under Smart City Mission at Vadaj, Ahmedabad

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel dedicated and laid the foundation stone of various development works worth Rs. 1770 crore of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation today under the Smart City Mission of Government of India.

CM Smt. Patel performed the ground-breaking ceremony of dedication of about 11,300 free houses as part of the rehabilitation project under ‘Smart City’ project for slum-dwellers of Ramapir Tekra in Vadaj area. She shared that the Slum Rehabilitation project also includes the development of ‘Vadaj Smart District’ on 52 hectares of land, which will be equipped with Solar Power, Rainwater Harvesting System, Sewage Treatment Plant and green spaces. Making use of technology, Vadaj Smart Dist will have sensor-based LED streetlight and hi-speed internet connectivity through public Wi-Fi hotspots. Besides, state-of-the-art facilities, it will have excellent connectivity and surveillance system to keep a check on traffic and security.

CM Smt. Patel also launched first of its kind ‘JanMitra’ card, a Common City Payment System (CCPS), that will enable the citizens of Ahmedabad to pay for an array of civic facilities including taxes, bills, entry fee to common city areas , payment at retail outlets, BRTS, AMTS, Pay & Park, etc. With ‘JanMitra’, Ahmedabad has become the 1st city in the country to have a common payment gateway.

‘Bal Swasthya Card’ for e-registration of birth and vaccination was also launched for every new child born in Ahmedabad. The health smart card will also provide information of the child’s physical and mental growth and will keep track of vaccination dates.

In an endeavour to eliminate malnutrition, CM Smt. Patel launched ‘Smart Anganwadi’ software that will help in profiling 1,41,823 Anganwadi kids in Ahmedabad.

CM Smt Patel also inaugurated and initiated other developmental works including Water & STP SCADA system for waste water treatment, 4.2 MW wind turbine, 100 MW solar rooftop systems for power conservation and protection of the environment. In another effort towards preserving the environment, the Chief Minister distributed ‘Bio-Gold’ soil to farmers made after recycling harmful sewage through radiation technology.

She also dedicated newly-constructed four gallery-type lecture halls at NHL Municipal Medical College having the capacity to accommodate 1200 students together.

On this occasion, CM Smt. Patel said that today, our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched ‘Smart City’ projects from Pune which is going to transform the lives of urban people. It is a matter of pride for us that Ahmedabad and Surat are selected among the first 20 ‘Smart Cities’. She appealed to the people to become smart citizens and make our cities cleaner, greener and of international standards.

On this occasion, Minister of State for Urban Housing Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Gautambhai Shah, MP Shri Kiritbhai Solanki, MLAs, Municipal Commissioner Shri Mukesh Kumar, office-bearers of AMC and other dignitaries remained present.
