The 5th Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit inaugurated today saw a record 2,766 MoUs worth Rs 15 lakh crore in 26 different sectors being signed till 5pm today.

“Gujarat government is organizing the biennial summits right from 2003 and in its 5th summit on the very first day saw Rs 15 lakh crore worth of investment proposals being committed which was a new record for the state of Gujarat,” said government spokesperson and Minister of State for Industries Saurabhbhai Patel.

Pointing out that the scope and base of the fifth edition of Vibrant Gujarat Summit has been widened as the summit will address the issue of sustainable growth besides fetching investment, Minister of State Shri Saurabh Patel said that Gujarat aims at creating a platform for global development by inviting cooperation from the countries around the world.

Prime Minister of Rwanda, Mr. Benard Makuza

Chief Guest of the function, Rwanda Prime Minister Mr. Makuza said when the world looks at India; it looks at Gujarat as a centre of it. He appreciated the balanced growth made by Gujarat and investment made by Gujarati people in South Africa. He also gave detailed information about power, agriculture and other sectors of Africa and the investments they received.

Head of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Shri Hari Bharatiya said that Gujarat has used its desire for growth in changing the quality of life of its people. He said that good governance and transparency has made Gujarat an ideal destination for investment.

Stating that it is not because that he is a Gujarati, his company has invested in Gujarat, Shri Naik said that it is just because of the merits of Gujarat, they are investing in the state. Thanking the Gujarat Chief Minister for entrusting the responsibility of construction of Mahatma Mandir to L&T he said that it is because of positive support of Gujarat administration that they could erected the structure at Mahatma Mandir within just 182 days.

Reliance Industries' Chariman Shri Mukesh Ambani exuded faith that Gujarat will become the first state in India to banish poverty from its root. He opined that Gujarat will show direction to the rest of the country under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi. “I salute the spirit of the people of Gujarat and feel proud to identify myself as a businessman of Gujarat. I believe in Gujarat's strength of meeting the dreams of my father Dhirubhai Ambani”, he said.

Praising the farsighted leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ADAG Chairman Shri Anil Ambani said that just a few years back, Gujarat was a power-scarce state and today; it has become a power-surplus state. Shri Anil Ambani committed an investment of INR 50,000-crore in next five to seven years and also expressed desire to invest in cement production in the regions of Kutch, Porbandar and Junagadh.

Adani Chairman Shri Gautam Adani said that his group will invest INR 80,000-crore in the sectors like infrastructure, port development and power in the coming years. Adani group will further develop the ports at Mundra and Dahej and will begin power production at Bhadreshwar in Kutch as well in Dahej and Dholera. Gujarat has made a rapid growth owing to political stability and transparent administration, he said.

Shri Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, DMIC, said that India will be urban majority by 2040. 34% of Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) passes through Gujarat state. He lauded the drive & dynamism of leadership in Gujarat, as the land acquisition work for the development Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) was completed in a record time. He announced to invest Rs. 74,000 crore in public infrastructure sector in Dholera.

The 108 Ambulance service attends a call within 10 to 15 minutes. It ensures prompt and better healthcare that covers around 55 million people. Around 16000 deliveries took place in the ambulance van, which shows the rapidness and reliability of its services to the needy people. There are 500 ambulances functional across the State, 100 more Ambulances are to be inducted in due course.

He announced to sign six MoUs worth Rs. 3,000 crore which include the projects such as Mahindra World City at SIR Dholera and seven resorts in eco-tourism sector. Investment in the solar energy space is also being mulled.

Shri Prashant Ruia, Chief Executive, Essar Group, said that Gujarat is an ideal destination for investment. It is just not the saga of high GDP, but it has strong social indicators.
