Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel today called upon the student police cadets to take up the responsibility of eradicating social evils, along with their studies, build a healthy state and take the nation to greater heights. Addressing the gathering at the Navsari Sai Garba Ground, she said the youth have faith in the rule of law and discipline and they have the inherent nature to fearlessly fight against the social evils. They have the capacity to take the government schemes to the last man in the last mile, she added.

CM Smt Patel said that the object of Student Police Cadet project is to ensure that youth develops respect towards police and not fear. This will create a bond between today’s youth and police, she added. CM Smt Patel said that it was her dream to join police but could not do so due to circumstances beyond her control. It was for the first time that the ‘student police scheme’ was launched under the aegis of Suraksha Setu Society of the State Home Department from Navsari in south Gujarat. She was also impressed by the awakening among the parents of students about nation building.

The function was followed by an interactive question-answer session. CM Smt Patel also inaugurated e-Suraksha scheme of Navsari District Police, while the data of the police department is being upgraded as part of e-governance. The scheme helps people to approach the police through emails, whatsapp, facebook, android and other applications and share various information.
