Gujarat CM interacts with women achievers from across the country, as she launches TV talk show in Noida

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel joined the launch of talk show, ‘Ab ke baras mohe bitiya hi dijo’ by private news channel in Noida. Interacting with women achievers from across the country, CM Smt Patel said that her government has recently approved Gujarat’s first women-only Entrepreneur Park, to be developed by Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) in Sanand near Ahmedabad.

CM Smt Patel today said that Gujarat Government introduced “Gender budgeting” for the first time when a record number of schemes related to women empowerment, worth Rs 2,436 crore, were incorporated in the State Budget 2014-15 and continues the tradition to propel women empowerment.

If a land/property is registered in the name of a woman in Gujarat, she is exempted from paying any registration fee and stamp duty, Smt Anandiben Patel told a cheering audience.

Addressing the women present, the Gujarat CM shared success stories of various Sakhi Mandals (Self-Help Groups) of Gujarat who have been earning their livelihoods, resulting in better living conditions for themselves and their families. She said that Gujarat Government is committed in empowering more and more women by motivating them to form Sakhi Mandals. Even in small villages and tribal homes, women have been progressing with the success of Sakhi Mandals where focus has been laid on providing women financial assistance for cattle-rearing activities, forming milk-cooperatives, horticulture activities etc. She informed that nearly 35 lakh women across Gujarat have been trained and made self-reliant through Self-help Groups.

The Gujarat Chief Minister announced setting up of a sports university in Gujarat where special provisions will be made for women sportspersons and Paralympics for coaching, logistics and funding.

CM Smt Patel, who is Gujarat’s first woman chief minister, has already granted 33 percent reservation to women in police recruitments in the state in an effort to empower women. Women are getting skill-trained in ITIs and KVKs and are being provided with a number of financial and other incentives for setting up enterprises.

CM Smt Patel apprised that community marriages are the finest example of a better society as they create a long lasting social impact and propagate social reforms in all strata of society for welfare of mankind.
