Gujarat CM Dedicates Various Development Works in Vapi

Guj CM Smt. Anandiben Patel dedicated various development works in Vapi on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Vapi Municipality today. On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel announced provision of Rs. 39 crore for water supply scheme, beautification of Lakhamdev Lake at a cost of Rs. 4.75 crore, beautification of Dungra lake at a cost of 3.15 crore, dedicated sports complex and club house built at a cost of Rs. 1.8 crore, and dedicated swimming pool built at a cost of Rs. 3 crore. CM Smt. Patel also laid the foundation stone of Chala lake Vikas at a cost of Rs. 7 crore.

Talking about ensuring the provision of adequate drinking water to all, CM Smt. Patel gave details about the funds allocated by the state government to various municipalities and cities of the state for water supply schemes. CM Smt. Patel stated that as per the provision made in the current year’s budget, the government has given Rs. 2600 cr. to 161 municipalities and 8 megacities of the state for water supply schemes. She further added that a total of Rs. 3600 cr. has been allocated in the budget for the year 2016-17 for water supply schemes out of which Rs. 2600 crore is the 1st installment and the rest of the amount will be provided only after the respective municipalities have utilized the previous grant.

CM Smt. Patel also talked about the deplorable condition of roads and insufficient street lights in private societies. She added that since the last 2 years, the state government has been providing 80% assistance for constructing roads and installing adequate street lights in private societies. CM Smt. Patel also gave details about the government’s Special innovative fund, which is allocated to special innovative projects of municipalities.

Talking about the rapid progress achieved by the government in constructing toilets in the state, CM Smt. Patel informed that the government is committed to ensuring that every house in the state has toilets and as a result, the government provides assistance to families who don’t have toilets in their house and wants to construct one. CM Smt. Patel expressed her happiness that Surat recently became the first city in the whole nation to be declared open defecation free.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel declared Vapi to be open defecation free considering that toilet construction has been completed 100% in Vapi and third party inspection has also been done. She also urged people to contribute in keeping their city clean and support the government in cleanliness initiatives. Along with Vapi, CM Smt. Patel declared Navsari, Bilimora, Vijalpore, Gandevi and Songadh towns open defecation free. She added that most of the work of toilet construction has been completed in all towns of the state and only third party inspection is remaining.
