Chairman Clinton Climate Initiatives, Shri Ira Magziner met Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi today. Healthy and robust discussion took place about setting-up a giant ‘Solar Energy Project' in Gujarat.

Internationally acclaimed ‘Clinton Climate Initiative' operates in the field environment-friendly energy sectors. Enthused by Gujarat Government's pioneering initiatives of setting up the biggest Solar-Energy Park of the world (Solar Energy Park of 3000 M.W. capacity), it has inked a MoU with the State. Shri Ira Magziner apprised the Chief Minister about the warm response received to the project by the Global Firms. Renowned International firms have warmly responded to the project.

Clinton Climate Initiative is in consultation with the State, chalking out formalities for setting-up a Solar-plant having capacity of 1000 M.W, initially. They have also admired Chief Minister's positive approach.

Plans are afoot to organise International Investor's Conference in Gujarat in April: 2010. Technology providers, Solar Power Project Investors, Bank delegations from America, Spain, Britain and Germany are likely to attend the conference. Chief Minister gave his consent to attend the International conference.

Gujarat Government has operationalised a separate Department for Climate Change. Under the strategy, Gujarat is fully determined to explore solar-energy, giving boost to its research and development attempts. Chief Minister expressed his keenness for developing the Energy Equipment Manufacturing Sector.

Principal Secretary –Energy and Petroleum- Shri D.J.Pandiyan, Principal Secretary to C.M. Shri K.Kailashnatahn, Secretary Shri A.K.Sharma were also present.
