Gujarat CM presented cheque worth Rs 2.16 lakh to Zeel Vodja, the 10,000th beneficiary of MYSY Scheme

Chief Minister Smt Anandiben Patel presented cheque worth Rs 2.14 lakh to Zeel Vidja, the 10,000th beneficiary of Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojna.

This scheme was launched by Chief Minster with an aim to provide financial assistance to the bright students of all classes and those coming from humble background for pursuing higher studies. More than 15000 students have applied for financial assistance through the scheme and assistance worth Rs 32.69 cr. is been provided to 9999 students till date; among these 1429 students pursuing studies in medical stream have received financial assistance worth Rs 17.99 cr, 4716 students from Engineering and Diploma stream have received assistance worth Rs 11.61 cr and 3835 students pursuing higher studies have received assistance worth Rs 3.2 cr.

CM Smt Patel presented a cheque to the 10,000th beneficiary of Mukhya Mantri Yuva Swavalamban Yojna, Zeel Vidja, first year medical student from L G Medical College. CM Smt Patel extended her best wishes and blessing to the beneficiary.

Under the scheme assistance worth RS 718.69 cr. has been provided to students. Bright students from Gujarat board and Central board who secure 90 percentile in 12th standard are eligible for benefits announces today. The annual family income ceiling will be considered as Rs 4.5 lakh. In dental, homeopathy, nursing, physiotherapy, etc courses, 50% fee of Rs 2 lakh, whichever lesser, will be paid to the student as government assistance. 10th and 12th standard students opting for diploma courses with minimum 80% percentile will get government assistance of Rs 25,000 per year or 50% of fee, whichever lesser. In B Sc, BA, B Com, B ed, graduation courses, 50% fee or annual Rs 10,000, whichever lesser, will be paid each year as government assistance to students in self-finance colleges. Students of talukas where higher education facility and government hostel is not available, will get Rs 1200 per month for boarding and lodging for 10 months a year as government assistance.

State Education Minister Smt Vasuben Trivedi, Principal Secretary to CM Ms. S Aparna, Education Principal Secretary Shri Pankaj Joshi, Higher Education Commissioner Shri A J Shah and Shri Anish Mankad of Technical Education were present on the occasion when CM presented the cheque to the beneficiary.
