Gujarat CM Inaugurates Seminar on Role of Public Prosecutor in Gandhinagar

Gujarat CM Smt Anandiben Patel inaugurated a workshop with regards to the role of public prosecutors in Gatisheel Gujarat here in Gandhinagar.

On the occasion, CM Smt Patel called on to the public prosecutors to play a pro-active role and to adopt sensible approach to resolve smaller and legal issues on the spot. She said that the state government is on the way to form a high-power committee with consultation of the high court to resolve the issues which have arose due to wrong interpretation of the government schemes on as early as possible basis. By giving details about the current year budget she said that this year the state government has allocated Rs. 1723 crore in the budget and decided to provide Rs. 520 crore for developmental works of infrastructural facilities for the legal department.

On behalf of state government CM Smt Patel has declared four to ten times increase in the remuneration/retainer fee given to the public prosecutor. The retainer fee has been increased from Rs. 4000 to Rs. 40,000 for the additional public prosecutor and assistant public prosecutor working in high-court. The retainer fee for the district level public prosecutor has been increased from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 35,000 and the fee for the assistant public prosecutor has been increased from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 30,000. The retainer fee of public prosecutor working in district courts has been increased to Rs. 35,000 as well.

Speaking on the success of the state government’s decision to begin an experiment of women court, CM Smt Patel said that many problems related to women have been resolved due to instinct and insight of rural women. With the success of the experiment began by the state government, she briefed about the decision to initiate new 21 women’s courts.

She suggested to organize such workshops every year and to perform all-round review by the public prosecutors from the concerned district about to express their views regarding pending cases – resolving procedures.

On the occasion the Minister of State for Law Department gave the details about establishment of commercial court in the state and about the approval of 1939 recruitments in district-taluka courts. Additional Advocate General Mr. Prakash Jani, Chief Secretary Mr. G. R. Aloriya, Legal Secretary Mr. Ilesh Vora, Government Pleader Ms. Manishaben and more than 250 public prosecutors from district courts and high court remained present.
