Gandhinagar: Wednesday: Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi called an urgent meeting to review the state of disaster management as the cyclone over Arabian Sea has caused a threat of a storm attack on the Gujarat State. He instructed officials to get updated with the satellite photographs, keep the district and taluka administration equipped with pre-planning, be prepared to tackle any adversity and to provide relief measures in coastal districts and in the regions of Kutchh and Saurashtra.

Finance Minister Shri Vajubhai Vala, Panchayat Minister Shri Narottambhai Patel, Health Minister Shri Jaynarayanbhai Vyas, Revenue Minister Shri Anandiben Patel, Urban Development Minister Shri Nitinbhai Patel, Home Minister of State Shri Amitbhai Shah, Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti, Secretaries of concerned departments, DGP, Director of Indian Metrology Department Dr. Kamaljeet Ray attended the meet.

As per the directions given by Chief Minister all the control rooms from district to taluka level are made operative. In-charge Secretaries of all the districts are reaching to Saurashtra-Kutchh. Administration is made equipped with a pre-plan for disaster management. Fishermen and saltpan workers are made come back to home. Health and sanitation teams are ready with necessary medicines and insecticides. Civil supply department has made arrangements for providing enough food stocks in the villages.

Dewatering pumps have been provided to all districts. 6 teams of NDRF have reached to Kutchh, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh and Rajkot. 2 more teams have leaved for Kutchh and Jamnagar. SRP teams are also reaching to different places.

ST buses are kept ready for relief process. Adequate drinking water will be ensured by water supply department. Energy department is also equipped to deal with any problems related to electric supply.

Some 119 villages saw a power cut off yesterday which has been reinstated at 118 places. Orders were made to pay aids as per the guideline to the families of people died due to falling of electric rods and electric shocks.

Chief Minister instructed public and private hospitals to get prepared for emergency services and to keep the 108 emergency vans ready.

Ongoing Krishi-Mahotsav is held in abeyance for two days as well Krishi-Mela in Anand and concluding programme at Mahatma Mandir has also been adjourned.
