- Narendra Modi

Kicking off the centennial celebration of Pune's Gujarati Bandhu Samaj Chief Minister Narendra Modi said while Gujarat is gaining honour and creditability due to high growth, the Central government of India is losing reputation owing to its crooked policies, directionless and corrupt administration.

‘Vibrant Gujarat' is not a phrase but a symbol of life which is full of progress and vibrancy, he said.

The centennial celebration of Gujarati Bandhu Samaj, established in 1913, began today in Pune. The Chief Minister laid foundation stone of the oraganization's premises which will be set up in six acre of area. The Trustees of the Samaj heartily welcomed Mr. Modi and honoured him with ‘Gujarat Ratna' award. The Chief Minister praised the organization's efforts for taking care of Gujarati people.

Chief Minister said that Gujarat has achieved a phenomenal growth in last decade owing to the contribution of six crore Gujaratis. Even the internationally acclaimed media houses such as ‘Washington Post' and ‘TIME' have also taken note of Gujarat's progress. Gujarat is considered as a model of development, which is not an achievement of small measure.

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat's growth is due to its well-planned financial management. Gujarat has turned into a revenue-surplus state from a revenue-deficit state even without imposing any new tax. The state has closed all doors of corruption.

The 12th Five Year Plan of Gujarat has touched the figure of Rs.2.55 lakh crore. The total volume of all the nine Five Year Plan since Gujarat's formation was Rs.55,395 crore, whereas even the provision for 10th and 11th Five Year Plan during 2002 to 2012 was Rs.1.55 lakh crore. Moreover, the total provision of 11th Five Year Plan Rs.2.30 lakh crore against which the volume of 12th Five Year Plan alone has touched Rs.2.55 lakh crore. These numbers testifies Gujarat's rapid development, he said.

The ban on cotton export has ruined lakhs of farmers of Gujarat. The Central government lifted the ban, imposed by it abruptly, following to the rage of farmers but the creditability of Indian government has touched the bottom due to its careless policies, said Chief Minister.

Gujarat is marching ahead with transparent policies and has earned a name in the field of tourism and agriculture. It is also emerging as an auto hub of the world. About 73% of the total employment of the country is provided by Gujarat only, he said.

Chairman of Gujarati Bandhu Samaj Nitin Desai regarded the Chief Minister as an exceptional political leader and the man of development.
