Gujarat to invest Rs 730 crore to develop tourism

AHMEDABAD : With five million tourists visiting Gujarat in last two years, Gujarat government has laid an outlay of Rs 730 crore to develop its tourism infrastructure in 22 districts across the state. The Tourism of Gujarat Corporation Limited (TGCL) is focusing on developing infrastructure and systematic planning for promotion of different popular destinations of Gujarat under the banner of Khushboo Gujarat Ki. The state also plans to launch an investor-friendly tourism policy this year.

During the festival one would see kites from around the globe - decorative kites, stunt kites, sport kites, kite trains, steerable kites, butterfly kites, dragon kites, mythical theme kites, opera kites, hi-tech creations, designer kites, etc are all flown at the venues. The festival often features contests and competitions, exhibitions, workshops (in 2012, a Japanese kite making workshop was part of the festival), aero-sports demonstrations, and sightseeing tours.
