Gujarat CM attends conference of Gujarat police officials in Gandhinagar today

While speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble CM Smt. Anandiben Patel urged the police department to make efforts to uplift the honor and dignity of the department by increased collaboration with youth, children, women, senior citizens and the society.

She said that Gujarat has progressed rapidly in recent time and it has become the global gate-way of India. Considering the fact that Gujarat has set an example all over the nation when it comes to peace and security, it is natural that the police department has a huge responsibility on its shoulders. CM Smt. Patel addressed senior officers of the Gujarat State Police department and the home department at the initiation of the two-day conference in the premises of Forensic Science University in Gandhinagar. Police officers-workers from all across the state witnessed the live broadcast of the Chief Minister’s address via BISAG satellite medium.

She expressed her intent that the police force should develop a proactive attitude towards ensuring that their duties and services become more people-oriented. Talking about her intent behind organizing the conference, Smt. Patel said that it was her intent that the conference becomes a platform for sharing ideas and for discussing the best practices implemented in various districts so that the discussion leads to better maintenance of law and order in the state.

She also urged officials to create an environment of security and trust for people so that they do not hesitate to come forward with their problems. CM Smt. Patel also put forward her suggestion saying that visits should be arranged for students of schools, children, senior citizens, and women to the nearest police stations so that they can be informed about the sophisticated aspects of providing security and protection to the society. Moreover, she added that by modernization of the training process of police in Gujarat, they have been equipped to sufficiently deal with current crimes including cyber crimes and the threat of terrorists.

She also announced that the government has allocated Rs. 38 crore in the current year’s budget to build one smart police station in every district and to build new police stations as per requirement.

Talking about the need for adopting modern technology and smart policing, CM Smt. Patel informed about various approaches like digitalization of crime records, City Surveillance and Intelligent traffic Management System and smart police headquarters.

On the occasion, Gujarat Police’s national championship winning lawn tennis team dedicated the trophy to CM Smt. Anandiben Patel.
