Gujarat CM lays the foundation stone of Kaveri Sugar factory at Sadadvel in Navasari

Gujarat Chief Minister Smt. Anandiben Patel laid the foundation stone of Kaveri Sugar Factory at Sadadvel village in Chikhli Taluka of Navsari today afternoon. This factory will be built at cost of Rs 100 crore and is jointly funded by both central and state governments. Gujarat government will provide Rs 33 cr for the project while central government will grant Rs 66 crore.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel said that the factory will benefit sugar farmers of three districts in south Gujarat, especially farmers of Khergam, Vasda, Chikhli & Dharampur Talukas. She also said that the government had resolved an issue pending for over 17 years and moved swiftly towards construction of this sugar factory. Talking about the pro-farmer decision taken by the government, CM Smt. Patel added that the issue of Kaveri Suggar Factory was a bit complicated, but the state and the central government provided assistance for this work and as a result, this important decision for the welfare of farmers was taken. Over 20 thousand farmers of the area will be benefitted by this decision. CM Smt. Patel expressed hope that the directors of the factory will strengthen the administration by keeping the issues of farmers in mind. CM Smt. Patel informed that famers would definitely achieve great success if they change their mentality and adopt tissue culture farming and other such modern techniques. She also urged sugarcane farmers to adopt drip irrigation to achieve higher production and save water.

CM Smt. Patel also distributed assistance to beneficiaries of various government schemes and also distributed forest right letters. Praising the work of Navsari district administration in this regard, she added that over 54440 beneficiaries have been handed forest right letters of 1400 hectares in Navsari district.

Also, CM Smt. Patel proudly declared that four more nagarpalikas under Navsari district namely Navsari, Vijalpore, Gandevi and Bilimora are now Open Defecation Free. A few days back she had announced Navsari as ODF.
