Gujarat's Initiative to help the 'Digital India' Dream Come True

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Smt. Anandiben Patel announced IT policy corresponding to the overall development of IT sector in the state.

Hon'ble Health Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Nitinbhai Patel and the Hon'ble Energy Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Saurabhbhai Patel said that this policy is an innovative way to help Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendrabhai Modi's 'Digital India' dream come true.

As per this initiative, the Gujarat IT Policy (2014-19) has been finalized under the guidance of Hon'ble Technology Minister of Gujarat, Shri. Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. The minister also shared that as per this declared policy, the objective of G2B (Government to Business) is kept in focus.

Information Technology Policy (2014-19) aims to encourage and set up an innovating and thriving IT and ITeS Eco System and optimum utilization of the country workforce is the main focus of the IT Policy.

Following are the focal points encapsulated by the IT Policy:

  • Information based development of economy
  • Attracting IT based enterprises to the state
  • Setting up of new IT Parks
  • Learning and Innovation based enterprises to get encouragement and special benefits
  • Qualitative and Quantitative advancement of sector in the state while accumulating a turnover of INR 75,000 crore (USD 15 billion) by 2020
  • The government aims at creating over 10 lakh employment opportunities by 2020
  • Encouragement to mega IT/ITeS Projects: INR 50 Crore for IT enterprises creating employment for 1000 people and ITeS enterprises creating employment for 1500 individuals. More so, for the development of IT Parks, 50% of starting capital to INR 2.5 crores of amount reserved
  • The state will provide a 100% reduction in any property purchase, rent, lease stamp duty and registration.
  • 25% subsidy for rent and lease at IT Parks for entrepreneurs
  • 100% subsidy in provident fund for women and 75% otherwise (to an annual ceiling of INR 5 lakhs)
  • 30% subsidy in bandwidth charges.
  • Simplification of labor laws.

For benefitting MSME entrepreneurs, the policy has special incentives including: 100% subsidy on interest for 5 years, 7% subsidy to micro enterprises (upto an annual limit of 25 lakhs), 5% subsidy to small and medium enterprises (upto an annual limit 35 lakhs), encouraged to MSMEs to introduce new technology and innovation, help to procure patents, help in procuring Quality Certificates, Innovation and Developmental institutes to get facilities, Help in market development.

All of these factors have been encapsulated in the policy.
