Gujarat CM dedicates Ekta Van at Mota village of Surat amid ongoing celebrations of the 67th Van Mahotsav in the state

Gujarat CM Smt. Anandiben Patel dedicated Ekta Van at Mota village in Bardoli Taluka of Surat as part of ongoing 67th statewide Van Mahotsav today.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel said that various issues like increase in average temperature, pollution, inadequate and irregular rainfall, climate change etc. are the effects of global warming. At a time when the whole world is grappling with this issue and looking for ways to mitigate the effects, we should also be concerned about global warming and work towards conserving the environment and nature.

Talking about the cultural forest Ekta Van developed by the forest department, CM Smt. Patel informed that Ekta Van is spread over 6.8 hectares and built at cost of Rs 7 cr. It will also be home to statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who was given the title of Sardar at the pious and historical place of Mota. Ekta Van will have 5000 saplings of over 50 different types and over 85000 trees. It will also have various cultural forests like Kotha Van, Ambli Van, Amra Van, Rashi Van and Nakshatra Van.

Talking about the urgent need for conservation of environment, CM Smt. Patel stated that everyone is acutely aware about the need for conservation, but there is no improvement in the current situation because of a lack of implementation. She further added that we are dependent upon nature for many things and we should take concrete steps to conserve it.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel felicitated forest workers and women of Sakhi Mandals for exceptional work by handing over cheques. In addition, she also launched “Ishwar Nu Abhyaran” and a CD detailing about the various forests of Gujarat.

Lauding the contribution of forest department officials and Vanrakshak women, CM Smt. Patel said that the forest department did an amazing job of implementing the decision of the government to host 4 Van Mahotsavs in the state this year. She also congratulated Vanrakshak women for setting an example by their contribution in protecting the forests of the state.

On the occasion, CM Smt. Patel urged people to save trees and pledge that each member of the family will plant at least one tree in a year & nurture it. She also stated that the young generation should be made to understand the value of trees and greenery and this is the duty of elders of the family. Without trees, there will be no life.
