Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi while throwing open two newly-built bridges today at Ahmedabad asked Central government to take on the challenge of competing healthily with the Gujarat state on the front of development.

Chief Minister inaugurated Vadaj-Dudheshwar river-bridge and Parimal railway underpass here in the presence of former Deputy Prime Minister Shri Lal Krishna Advani. The six lane river-bridge, linking Vadaj and Dhudheshwar is 10th and the widest bridge over Sabarmati, and erected at the cost of Rs.46-crore. The river-bridge was named as ‘Dadhichi Rishi Bridge' while the underpass was named as ‘Bhagini Nivedita Bridge'.

While expressing happiness with the naming of both the bridges, Chief Minister said that sage Dadhichi used his bones for making armor to fight with demons and free the people from their harassments, while Bhagini Nivedita, a foreigner lady, lived her life in India with the only objective of spiritual upliftment. Parimal underpass is named after her to mark her 100th death anniversary.

Shri Modi said his government has equipped all the major cities of Gujarat including Ahmedabad with the modern urban facilities. Budget for urban development has been increased to Rs.3000-crore from Rs.232-crore during past ten years.

It is explicable why Annaji's anti-corruption movement is annoying Congress, as the corruption is rooted into the Party and corruption has taken over in the country instead of development, Shri Modi said.

Congress is spreading lies regarding the development in Gujarat, he said clarifying that area under farming has not decreased in Gujarat as the government has given non-fertile lands for the industrial use. Projects like Dholera SIR and Delhi-Mumbai industrial corridor will change the face of the cities of Gujarat, providing a secure future to the youths of the state. Despite the defamation practices of Congress the state government will carry on its development march, he said.

Shri Lal Krishna Advani while congratulating the state government for erecting new bridges in the city and for various development initiatives including Sabarmati riverfront project, also appreciated the good-governance practices adopted by it.

Ahmedabad Mayor Shri Asit Vora expressed happiness with the two bridges dedicated to people.

Minister of State Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja, MPs Dr.Kiritsinh Solanki, Surendra Patel, Ahmedabad MLAs, officials and office bearers of AMC and people in large number were present on the occasion.
