CM appreciates police for efficiently maintaining law and order
in the state
In a gala function held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar today
Chief Minister Narendra Modi honoured 205 personals of police, home guard and
jail officials of Gujarat with the President’s special bravery medals.
The Chief Minister appreciated the Gujarat police for efficiently
maintaining law and order in the state.
Congratulating the medal-decorated personnel Chief
Minister said that it is a matter of pride that these personnel have received
the medal for efficiently carrying out their duties. The personnel who have received
the posthumous medals are especially entitled for the honour.
Mr. Modi suggested to make a book telling the story of the
personnel who sacrificed their lives during performing their duties. He also
suggested including the book in the syllabus of police trainees.
Chief Minister exuded faith that many techno-savvy and
highly educated youths who have joined the state’s police force will add new
vigor to the Gujarat police. And if these young and
energetic police individuals get the guidance of senior and experienced police
officials, the future of Gujarat police will be quite powerful, he said.
High growth of Gujarat has boosted the atmosphere of peace in the state. The
state has not seen conflicts between police and public during last decade. This
however poses a challenge before the police of becoming more vigil, he said.
Mr. Modi also exhorted the police officials to adopt
latest technologies for efficiently carrying out their duties.
He appealed to create trust in people for the police. He
praised the measures taken by police to educate people about terrorism.
Chief Minister gave away medals announced by the Governor
during 2001 to 2011 including three posthumous bravery medals, five bravery
medals, 13 medals for special services, 154 medals as an appreciation of
personnel’s services and 40 medals to home guard officials.
Law Minister Dilip Sanghani, Minister of State for Home
Praful Patel, additional chief secretary to Home Dr. Varesh Sinha, DGP Mr.
Chitranjansingh and police officials with their families were present on the
occasion.
