CM appreciates police for efficiently maintaining law and order in the state

In a gala function held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar today Chief Minister Narendra Modi honoured 205 personals of police, home guard and jail officials of Gujarat with the President’s special bravery medals.

The Chief Minister appreciated the Gujarat police for efficiently maintaining law and order in the state.

Congratulating the medal-decorated personnel Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that these personnel have received the medal for efficiently carrying out their duties. The personnel who have received the posthumous medals are especially entitled for the honour.

Mr. Modi suggested to make a book telling the story of the personnel who sacrificed their lives during performing their duties. He also suggested including the book in the syllabus of police trainees.

Chief Minister exuded faith that many techno-savvy and highly educated youths who have joined the state’s police force will add new vigor to the Gujarat police. And if these young and energetic police individuals get the guidance of senior and experienced police officials, the future of Gujarat police will be quite powerful, he said.

High growth of Gujarat has boosted the atmosphere of peace in the state. The state has not seen conflicts between police and public during last decade. This however poses a challenge before the police of becoming more vigil, he said.

Mr. Modi also exhorted the police officials to adopt latest technologies for efficiently carrying out their duties.

He appealed to create trust in people for the police. He praised the measures taken by police to educate people about terrorism.

Chief Minister gave away medals announced by the Governor during 2001 to 2011 including three posthumous bravery medals, five bravery medals, 13 medals for special services, 154 medals as an appreciation of personnel’s services and 40 medals to home guard officials.
