Gujarat, today, has reached a very interesting point of its development journey. It has crossed the threshold point and is poised to take a big leap forward. We are trying to make development a mass movement. History has proven that whenever any initiative has become a mass movement, results have followed. India’s independence struggle gained the real momentum when Mahatma Gandhi made it a mass movement. As Gandhiji did for ‘swarajya’ (independence), so we do for ‘su-rajya’ (good governance). Whether its enrollment of girl child, creation of water harvesting structures, imparting scientific knowledge to the farmers, delivery of health services or the campaign to save the girl child, we are getting great results by involving people and making it people’s movement. Making development a mass movement not only ensures faster widespread results and ownership by the citizens, it also guarantees that the fruits reach everyone- cutting across the barriers of caste, community, regions and status.
Gujarat is known by the enterprising nature of its people and their ability to learn, adopt and adapt. Gujarat is also known for its spirit of partnership and co-operation as well as its grit and resilience. It is these fundamentals that make Gujarat so unique. Today, we proudly stand as a replicable model of development with highest GDP growth rate in India, highest announcements of investments, highest rate of completion of projects and at the same time very high agricultural growth of 9.6%, again the highest among Indian states.
The journey so far has been gratifying and we have reached a stage where our administration and the citizens can dream of Golden Gujarat (‘Swarnim Gujarat’) - a dream that Gujarat stands at par with the developed economies, a dream that Gujarat leads India in its contribution for the fulfillment of Millennium Development Goals, a dream that Gujarat has its own share in making the world a better place to live. The Government of Gujarat is making innovations and efforts to see that the dreams are cherished, followed and fulfilled.
